Every time I am blessed to be a part of a fundraiser like this, I am convinced that I cannot be surprised again. And yet… here I am. Speechless once more. In only 6 days, our Buc-ee’s family raised $10,000 for Carter and his family!!!

Look at what we did! Look at what you did! No. No, no. Look at what GOD did!! “All the glory to God, who is able through His mighty power within us to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” -Ephesians 3:20

In 4 hours, our fundraiser for Carter will come to a close. These photos tell stories of a friendship knitted together by so much more than common interests.

That is sweet Carter sitting in the high chair and asleep in the wrap. That is Claire and Cooper on either side of my Incredible Holt the night before we saw the oncologist for the first time.

Those last two photos are of two boys, 6 years apart, facing head on the embodiment of Satan growing inside of them. They did nothing wrong. They are a visual reminder that we live in a fallen world where there is suffering, hurt, grief, and pain that is everywhere and sometimes happens to the most innocent.

Take heart, for I have overcome the world.- John 16:33

While we can’t take the suffering away, while we cannot make sense of it, while we can have short sighted thinking and say “it’s not fair”, the truth is that nothing and I mean NOTHING is wasted if we have open hands and give it to God. He is fully in control of all of it. Every piece of it.

We are about $500 away from the goal the coaches and I set to raise.

While today may be the last day to donate, it most certainly is not the last time you will hear us ask for prayers for Carter and his family.

The Buc-ee’s baseball organization believes that prayer is where it all begins.

Carter, Laura, Steven, Claire, and Cooper, we hope that you have been able to see the outpouring of love from people all over the country over this last week. People who have never met you before are praying for healing, protection, provision, and miracles.

Every single day from the first day of our pursuit for answers for Holt, until we heard the glorious statement, “Holt has no evidence of disease”, I listened to the song, Do It Again by Elevation Worship. While it reminded my soul to trust God’s love, goodness, power, and faithfulness, I was always curious as to why the song that spoke to me on the deepest level said He would do it AGAIN… I am now listening to it and believing that Carter can be healed like Holt. It’s like God was preparing my heart all along to walk alongside “my person” as she walked (more like army crawled through the trenches) with me. God’s in the business of big picture things while also being present in every.single.tiny.detail.

🎶 “I’ve seen you move, you move the mountains, and I believe I’ll see you do it again. You made a way, when there was no way. And I believe I’ll see you do it again.”🎶

Carter’s battle isn’t just affecting him and Laura and Steven. Carter has two older siblings, Claire and Cooper, who are living this nightmare, too. If you can’t tell from the photos below, these siblings are very close.

Watching their little brother go through this is terrifying for them. And yet at the same time, their lives are still moving forward. It has to be a very weird feeling to be fearful for your little brother but also to still go to school every day, do your homework, be a friend, participate in your school musical, attend your first school dance, and a thousand other things. I can’t imagine what it’s like for them to be sharing their parents who so desperately want to be present for everything all while giving Carter the best care he could ever receive.

You donating not only helps Carter, but it blesses Claire and Cooper, too. Many forget the siblings of critically ill children. Not the Buc-ee’s. Every time the boys break out of their huddle they yell, “1-2-3, Buc-ee’s! 4-5-6, FAMILY”! The Buc-ee’s want to support this FAMILY and are so thankful for your help!

Two years. That is how long Laura and Steven have known something was wrong with Carter… but the doctors wouldn’t listen. Everything from swollen lymph nodes in his neck so large that he couldn’t turn his head, to unexplained chronic illness, and many things in between were explained away by doctors and they simply refused to listen to Laura and Steven.

It was finally in the early morning hours two months ago in the emergency room with a fever that would not break and pneumonia that wouldn’t resolve that someone FINALLY listened. As the technician scanned Carter’s abdomen they looked at Laura and said, “this is not a lung issue. This is a liver issue”. With tears in her eyes, Laura looked at the technician and said, “thank you for listening to me. I’ve been trying to tell someone for two years that something is wrong”.

Cancer you even imagine?

Trying with everything you can to advocate for your child and yet no one that can put in the correct orders to help would listen?

Laura, I am so proud of you for never giving up on finding answers. You and Steven are there for Carter. Now the Buc-ee’s are here for you.

Holt and the Buc-ee’s baseball team will be playing in the Strike Out Cancer tournament this weekend here in DFW. They are playing in honor of our lymphoma warriors, Holt and Carter 🎗️💚.

Only 5 days left to donate and help to try and alleviate the financial burden that comes with having a critically ill child. Hello, FFNL community! It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything so if I’m on here, you know it MUST be important!

Many of you have found my business due to my Cookies for a Cause fundraisers where I would make cookies and collect donations to support a family whose child is battling cancer. If you’ll remember, 2 years ago, we raised $78,000 in only 11 days for Braxton Piñero and his family. I was humbled beyond belief!

Cookies for a Cause was born out of the desire to give back since so many supported us with our oldest son, Holt, as he was going through his cancer journey. Holt continues to be in remission and is living the life of a normal 8 year old boy- praise God! He plays baseball for the Buc-ee’s, a team that’s more like a family.

The Buc-ee’s are competing in the Strike Out Cancer tournament in DFW this weekend and they are playing in honor of Holt AND someone else that means a lot to me. His name is Carter Harbron, and he is the youngest son of “my person”, Laura Harbron.

When Holt began his cancer journey, we flew to Philadelphia to seek answers. Laura, Steven, and their three children dropped what they were doing and came to Philly to spend the evening with us before we saw the oncologist the next day.

Six years TO THE DAY later, Carter was diagnosed with stage 4b Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He is quite literally in the fight of his life.

While I am not in a position to make thousands of cookies with only 6 days before the tournament, I am spear heading a donation only fundraiser for the Buc-ee’s to try and alleviate some of the gigantic financial burden that comes with a critically ill child. If you would like to give to Laura and Steven to support Carter and their family, please Venmo any amount to (last 4 of phone number is 5726). Just like every fundraiser before, absolutely 100% of your donations will go to the family- I guarantee it!

✝️Easter is upon us!✝️

In light of recent events, I am more grateful than ever for Jesus’ sacrifice and defeat over death so I can rest assured that my last moment on this side of Heaven isn’t the end for me.

I’m keeping my specials super simple this year, although I can always fill a custom order, so never hesitate to ask!

Easter Specials:
-candy boxes: $15 each, filled w/ Nutella eggs and chocolate dipped marshmallows

-Nutella eggs: full order 2 dozen for $25

-Cross cupcakes: $20/dozen 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 vanilla, all with vanilla buttercream icing and a chocolate cross (color of cross may vary)

All pick-ups will be in Melissa on either Friday, 4/15 or Saturday, 4/16.
