Sherry season is here and we're not apologizing for it.

One of the best values in this wildly overlooked wine category we've seen in years. This is Valdespino's La Barca, sourced from the historic La Marchenudo vineyard and aged 10 years under a living veil of flor. It's one of the most singular bottles in the shop right now.

In Sevilla, every late afternoon you head to the bar, order tapas, pour some Sherry, and enjoy life. We're bringing that energy to McLean.

Here's a wine with a story worth knowing.

The País grape arrived in Chile in the 17th century and pretty much kept the whole country going for a few hundred years. Then along came Cabernet Sauvignon and everyone forgot about it. Miguel Torres didn't.

The Estelado is a dry, fizzy, pale pink wine made from 100-year-old País vines. It's crisp, fresh, a little wild, and genuinely unlike anything else you'll taste. Old meets new. Chile meets sparkling. And it works!

Our good friends at Liberty Restaurant Group are hosting an AMAZING Barolo dinner and you should go!

When Chiara Boschis took over her family's winery in 1990, there were so few female winemakers in the region she was quickly dubbed "The Barolo Girl." On June 16, she'll be presenting new releases including the Vinous 93 point 2022 Barolo Mosconi and 96 point 2021 Barolo Via Nuova. All paired with a satisfyingly crafted dinner from chef Ulysses Cabahug.

$125 per person plus tax and tip. Tuesday June 16 at 6pm. Easy Metro ride to Clarendon or plenty of parking nearby.

Alexandra Erlacher of Kellerei Andrian soared into Chain Bridge Cellars in May and delivered exactly what we promised. Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco, Lagrein, a stunning Chardonnay, a serious Lagrein Riserva and a sweet Gewurztraminer Passito. No fees, no seats, and plenty of thrills.

Meet the Winemaker 🍷

If you enjoy getting to know under-the-radar Italian wine regions, classics like Langhe Nebbiolo and Barolo and/or dragons, this is the tasting for you.

For Caterina Cordero, wine has always been intertwined with family. With deep familial ties to the legendary Vietti Estate in Barolo, Cordero San Giorgio represents both a continuation and an evolution of their family's winemaking story.

The "San Giorgio" name refers to the legend of Saint George and the Dragon. Put dragons and knights together and you get fireworks. Which is pretty much what these wines deliver, too!

A white wine of immense presence and depth.

The Dom Roger Perrin Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc comes from vines planted in 1921 and it shows. Peach fruit, white flowers, wild herb, sweet spice and lemon zest. Full-bodied and concentrated but fresh and flowing all the way to the finish.

For lobster rolls, seared wild mushrooms, creamy cheeses and grilled fish. Or just a glass worth savoring on its own.
