It took some nuanced manoeuvering to get this baby unstuck from the protein tub… you can’t just pull something out when it’s stuck like this it’ll destroy their legs. I’ve never had a protein tub turned into thick binding taffy before. So grateful i heard this baby crying.

The dashboard on the farm truck tells me it’s 91° outside at just after noon.

Inside the cab, the air conditioning is on full blast and I’m grateful for it. 91° is pretty hot, especially if you are an animal wearing a fur coat …

It’s so super important that all of our animals including the poultry have access to shade and shelter from the heat and sun and access to plenty of fresh, clean water.

Some of our livestock can be found laying out in the Sun, even on hot days like this … the goats in particular

But the sheep with their heavy wool ? You will find them seeking out the deepest shade they can find whether that is under the big trees or inside the big barn

Heat causes animals to get stressed and stress causes parasite blooms within those animals and altogether contributes negatively whether it’s additional stress for new moms or negative impacts to fibre production or a stop to growth … extreme heat adversely affects all of the animals which is why it is so important to engage in responsible species specific husbandry …

Please make sure your animals are equipped for the weather. And if you aren’t sure what best practices for your animals looks like, there’s lots of accurate information on the Internet
