“DID YOU HEAR?!”
Today is the LAST day of the Market @ West Acres for this season! Join Sandhills, and several other vendors, as we end our year and say good-bye until next Spring. But, don’t worry! I’ll have the Sandhills trailer at Integrity Convenience Store every Thursday and at Fleet Farm next Saturday and every Saturday afterwards. I’ll post up if that schedule changes.

The Peas enjoyed a treat of cracklins - what’s left after rendering tallow. As you can see, they really love it and it’s very good for them. High quality tallow supplies essential fat-soluble vitamins (such as A, D, E, and K) that support bone health, skin health, and immune function. You can make homemade suet cakes by melting tallow and adding bird seed while it’s still warm. I like to feed these in the winter to provide extra energy to the wild birds trying to survive our winters.

Yep. A lot. At least, my boys do. Thankfully, it’s usually aimed at each other, or another critter trying to eat his food. They don’t spit on people intentionally, but you definitely don’t want to be in between them when the boys get in a disagreement. Their aim is terrible! Thankfully, they rarely get in disputes, and are usually quite gentle to be around.

Remember those adorable little guinea keets I showed you a few months ago? Yeah… they grew up. They aren’t so adorable anymore, but they’re still great entertainment as they try to figure out why their two adoptive (chicken) moms don’t do things quite like THEY want to do them. The keets will take off running, only to turn around and realize their moms are wayyyy behind them, and not really interested in zooming around everywhere, just for the sake of zooming. Who knew? 🤷‍♀️

There’s no market, today. Guess I’ll just have to stay home and put my feet up. 😂 Or, I could package up the Beef Tongue...

Or, I could package up the Beef Tongue that came out of the freezer dryer this morning! Miss Catsy Cline, resident mouser, seems to be obsessed with it, lately.

Thank goodness we have Lizzy, the farrier, to keep our horses, donkeys & ponies in pedicures. Our sandy soil doesn’t trim their hooves naturally, so we have her come out every couple of months to give their hooves a trim.
“Are ponies cheaper to trim than a full grown horse?” Nope! It’s just as much work, if not harder, to trim those tiny hooves! They’re just a little easier to hold.

He can’t just go lay in the barn, or behind the house - he HAS to lay right out by the road, where every passer-by assumes he’s been hit and is now properly flattened roadkill.

Can we talk about chicken feet? I know it sounds gross, but these ugly little tripods are packed with valuable nutrients- not just for dogs, but for people, as well. Google will tell you they’re like magic for arthritic dogs. Google will also tell you how to add them to your own soup for a bone-building broth. You’ll have to ask Google, because there’s no way I’ve got a recipe for it! 😂
I have these along in the trailer, if you want to give your dog a special treat. Raw, declawed & ready to make your dog’s day.

Integrity Convenience Store • 11-4 • Every THURSDAY
Kids definitely learn by watching! Little Man has been helping his Daddy & Grandpa haul cattle from the pastures to the home quarter. He’s figured out that every pilot needs a ground crew, and quickly filled the job of helping to guide the trailer back up to the loading chute. He does a better job than some I’ve seen!
