“Is there any place to stay in McLeod?”
McLeod is known for a lot of things. Awesome rodeos, family friendly trail rides, world famous Sandhills beef, beautiful views, very famous penny bar, and now, comfortable cabins to lay your head down in the evenings. Can it get any better than that?!

The Northern Grands are preparing for their county fair. They brought their show calves down for Papa to clip. Show cattle are pampered quite a bit. They get regular spa days, where their hair is washed and blow dried, and styled to please the arena judge. They go for walks on the halter and are tied in the barn with fans blowing on them to keep them cool and keep flies away. While this training is very important for the cattle, it does just as much for the Littles who are watching, learning, and who soon will do all of it by themselves. Just like their mom did 20 years ago.
And their grandpa did 40 years ago.
And their great grandpa did 60 years ago.

It was only fitting to end the visit with an All-American meal, so we served Sandhills burgers (patties), brats, cowboy beans, potato salad, watermelon & chips.
I think it’s safe to say they won’t forget this trip. Between the critters who were on hand to amuse them, filling their heads with new ideas, filling their bellies with the beef that resulted from those new ideas, and the camaraderie we developed, I’d say it was a very successful day!

As soon as the big bus pulled into the yard, the peacocks came to investigate! They reminded me of street dogs smelling the heels of everyone in the crowd. I think there were as many pictures of them as there were of the machinery and fields. 🤣

“Do you give Farm Tours?”
That’s how the conversation started. By the end of the phone call, we understood that there would be 40 delegates from 4 countries, coming to learn about our regenerative practices, and the beef that was produced by feeding them this way. There’s something quite humbling about being in this position. We’ve made mistakes along the way. To be able to save them making the same mistakes, and sharing techniques that worked (or didn’t!), to help them further their farming operations, was incredible.
And the results of our tenacity are showing through every week, when my customers show up to buy our beef. It IS special! Special enough for people to come from France, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland to learn how we raise it. I’m proud to share it with all of my Sandhills Family Customers! And I was proud to share it with my new friends from over the pond!
Know your Farmer; know your food.

Weekend shenanigans. Someone’s got the Zoomies!
We’re all running around like crazy, getting ready for a special farm visit, today. The Sandhills Trailer will remain parked so that I can be on hand to help with our guests.

It’s FRIDAYS @ Fleet Farm Fargo!!!
You’ll find the Sandhills Trailer in the Fleet Farm parking lot from 10-5! Whether you’re working in the garden, or heading for the lake, you’ll find what you need at Fleet Farm. Even the BEEF needed to sustain you when the fish aren’t biting. 🤗
Since today is the first Friday of the month, I’ll be sharing the parking lot with the Healing Harvest Market Hosted by Valley Vital Medicine!!! The list of vendors at this relatively new market is super impressive!
Regardless of the view out your window this weekend, start it off right with beef, from Sandhills!
