Roosters are not required to have if you have chickens..
Although if you want fertile eggs from your hens, that rooster is going to be a requirement. They are also very good at protecting their ladies. Itā€™s normally one rooster per about 10 hens, but you have to be careful because if you have more than one rooster (depending how you keep your hens and flock) the two roosters will fight till the death normally .ļæ¼
