One of my favorite rose bushes for cut flowers.
The name catches my fancy also; it is called Tea Time, and is a hybrid tea rose. I have cut off it frequently this season and it is still going strong! What about the smell? I a sorry to say I can’t remember for sure but I think it is very much a “rose” smell. I’ll check again and compare it to my Eden Climbing rose.

It is gladiola time! Although you cannot see them in their full glory yet there are dark pink gladiolus in this arrangement. They were fresh cut for a client’s weekly flower arrangement and will burst into full bloom gradually in the next few days.
The arrangement includes lavender/pink yarrow, Bells of Ireland foliage, Drumstick alliums, a dark calla lily, Orlaya, pink Bee Balm, pink straw flowers and of course more that remain unnamed. This arrangement was pure pleasure to arrange.

An asiatic lily bouquet with red bud foliage, a few bachelor buttons, one or two cosmos, bronze fennel, vinca vines, blue larkspur and a few stems of veronica, light blue and deep purple, also two orange ranunculus flowers, arranged in a “ancient looking” vase positioned on its side. I think this is a lovely look. For some reason I imagine a forest floor when I look at it:)

Love my big row of comfrey! It has grown there for over 7 years. Occasionally a comfrey plant will escape and come up somewhere else but I just pull it out or dig it up and plant it where I want it. We really use the leaves of these plants! I cut most of the leaves off two or three times a year and make comfrey
tea to apply to my flowers and vegetables. Comfrey is a mineral accumulator and gives flowering plants a real boost!

Nothing like Sweet William flowers for intense color and long life in the vase. Mine are about to go dormant since they thrive better in a little cooler weather. but they have given me weeks of cut flowers!

A wagonload of flowers being rolled down the driveway to the house early on a Friday morning. These flowers will rest in cool water in an air conditioned room for several hours. They will then be put together along with other flowers, gathered previously but not shown, into bouquets for the market.
The smell of fresh flowers is in the air!
Love my job!

Cut flowers grown on our flower farm take their turn to be the stars of the show! We usually start out with tulips early in the season with their supporting friends like daffodils. Next it is peonies closely followed by roses. They love the limelight and we love them! Now at this time roses are still around but lilies have decided to step in front of them:) Our bold asiatic ones are first to bloom here as you can see in the pictures. Others, including the orientals will bloom soon. Plus we have some new lilies called Rose lilies. Cant wait for those beauties! The market bouquets reflect the main flowers we have blooming on our farm so look for lilie bouquets at our table:)

A special order Mother’s Day flower arrangement. I wanted to give it to myself for Mother’s Day- lol.
The colors just talked to me but it found its new home in spite of me.
The main flowers are pink roses and an Autumn Sunset dahlia (the first dahlia for our season), coreopsis, butter daisies, blue bachelor buttons, blue salvia, pink dianthus, Orlaya, pastel pink yarrow and white yarrow, Persian zinnias, with foliage of Bunny Ears, forsythia, mountain mint and Sunshine ligustrum. Also seed pods of Nigella flowers. An interesting variety of stems that obviously work well together.
