The privilege to make something special.
The awareness to know you never want to make it again.
Two sides of the same coin that add complexity into human-made items. Last night, I watched Homeward Bound (remember Chance, Sassy, and Shadow?) with the kids and, of course at the end, when Shadow brings up the tail of the group, I SOBBED 😭 😂 I was so moved by that scene and the whole epic tale of confusion, survival and the feeling of needing to come home.
My 10 year old son made the comment that he prefers the way they did the animals in this movie, where the voices are dubbed in and they don't make fake animals talk like in the newer "live" action animal movies. I agreed with him and explained that computers have given us CGI, which isn't bad necessarily, but it doesn't evoke the human emotion we experience with the real world.
Afterwards, I couldn't help but think if how difficult that movie must have been to film. To get animals to hit their marks, express the right vibe at the right time... it must have been a massive undertaking. I'm sure its why the second Homeward Bound was less impressive overall and didn't have nearly the core memory making capacity. Making incredible is difficult and often unrepeatable in that same way.
My little rooster mug gave me that same feeling. I likely wont make another one, but I'm happy with this one enough that I don't feel the need to push myself to draw this much detail and transfer it again.
