NASHVILLE — It’s a great year to celebrate a Tennessee Christmas. This holiday season, two of the Christmas trees on display at the Capitol in Nashville will come from a Tennessee farm.

“We are honored to have one of our grafted Fraser fir trees selected to grace the Tennessee State Capitol during the Christmas season,” Dawn Gray of Wildwood Christmas Tree Farm in Cannon County said. “It is a privilege to share the beauty of our tree with residents and visitors.”

Blankenship Farms and Nursery in Warren County will provide an Eastern red cedar tree for display. “We are thrilled to provide a beautiful cedar to represent the lovely species of trees native to Tennessee,” Jerry Blankenship said.

What a difference a few days and hard work makes!

We’re working hard on recovering, sorting, and counting plants, repairing our irrigation system, and cleaning up debris. Our crews are going above and beyond to recover the displaced plants and build back stronger. We’re thankful that so much of this year’s crop is going to be placed back and we can get back to growing!

This week, we’re hoping to start replanting the plants that could not be recovered, thanks to our good friends at JLPN and other suppliers! Thank you for all the prayers, texts, and phone calls - we are so thankful to have so many great customers and suppliers!

Busy day at Blankenship Farms! Along with flood clean up in the containers, the TSU research station and TTU are doing research on 3D Mapping in the B&B Fields. Another drone is used to determine if we have insect damage throughout the growing season with lidar (light detection and range) and infrared cameras.

This is a day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Thankful for our sweet neighbors who came to help, the phone calls, and all the offers of help. It looks bad but we will be able to salvage a lot of the plants and replant. We feel very blessed. We are praying for all who have had loss in this storm especially those who have lost loved ones or have been injured.
