We want to share openly with our community about today.
We absolutely support the reason behind the blackout strike and the values it represents. Standing up for fairness, safety, and dignity matters deeply to us. What’s happening hits especially close to home, as a Latinx and immigrant household. These issues affect our families, our neighbors, and our lived experiences.
At the same time, as a small, Latina-owned business, we’ve had to make a really hard decision to remain open today. This business supports our family and our livelihood, and after already closing our doors earlier this winter to paint and make improvements, we simply can’t afford another full closure right now.
This shop has always been more than just frozen yogurt to us. It’s a place where friends gather, where families spend time together, and where people come to feel welcome and safe. Keeping our doors open helps us continue to show up for our community in the ways we know how.
We’ve also had spoken with our employees and everyone working today feels comfortable being here, understands our decision, and knows that we fully respect and support the cause behind the strike.
We hope that today you choose to support the small businesses who have expressed support for the cause but need to remain open—and that tomorrow you choose to support the businesses who are showing solidarity by closing today.
There is room for all of us to show care and support in different ways.
Thank you for holding space for nuance, for supporting small businesses, and for continuing to show us so much love. We’re deeply grateful for this community—always. 🤍
