"Nothing on the late-20th century American wine scene was as surprising as the rise of the Pacific Northwest to a place of esteem. One grape that has solidified its place as a single-varietal wine is pinot noir. But style can vary a lot. This nearly burnished ruby-red example is of a somewhat rustic kind, but in the most charming way, with fullish body, appropriately acidic backbone and an earthy-stony finish. Flavor as such features raspberry and cinnamon/cloves. It is ideal for cedar-planked salmon; although salmon oven-roasted with a caramelized glaze is also good."
