We also sell dahlia tubers on our website in December and again in March both for spring shipping.

My sweet Emma hauling heliotrope this morning.

Tomorrow will be her last day with me and I will miss her so much, not only for her help but I have come to love this young lady. She is a kindred spirit and so much like me that she could be my daughter. She will head off to Nashville to go full time into acupuncture and women’s health, she is a graduate of Chinese medicine and although I had nothing to do with it I’m so very proud of her!

Many years ago while she was going to college, she stopped by for a mixed bouquet and told me what she was majoring in. I thought that was so cool and never would have imagined that she would be helping me in the flowers one day. Life is so funny

A brand new beauty has shown her face in the garden this year!

This lupine was lovingly pollinated by the bees and they gave me this mix of pastel colors all on one stem. The bottom is blush fading into white then fades into buttercream up top. It’s so exciting to see what mixes come up each year! Two years ago I was blessed with a totally pale peach, which I saved the seeds from of course to hopefully get more of them. Time will tell if it stayed true or was mixed once again.

Most folks get their mom flowers for Mother’s Day, especially a flower farmer, but I’ve always been a little different so I got her sticks!

Mom has been wanting to make some plant supports so we took a ride in the kubota, gathered some birch and American hazelnut branches and we were set for our little project. Just so happen I had these styrofoam pieces to help hold the branches while we worked.

Our project didn’t come out looking the greatest but we enjoyed the day and laughed so hard we cried and that’s the best kind of day we could ever ask for.

Mom’s little veggie garden is starting to come to life!

Last year I gave this fenced area to mom so she could have the little English garden she’s always wanted. It’s filled with raised beds, some homemade and some bought, pots filled with herbs and of course, lots of lavender.

I’m slowly giving up more and more of my flower growing space for vegetables. I’m hoping that I have time this year to ferment pickles, make lime pickles and can tomato sauce. I still have a huge space for flowers so giving up some space doesn’t hurt too much 😁

The new Lemon Chiffon peonies we put in last fall are starting to bloom and they are gorgeous! I’ll snip the buds off leaving most of the leaves to help the roots grow more robust for a few years before harvesting them for my wholesaler. I can tell it’s going to hard to not let these beauties bloom out.

The overwintered dahlias are starting to pop up. Not sure all of them made it through the really cold winter but we’re relieved to see at least some, we did dig some backups just in case.
