The Lochnest We love to share our love of chickens with everyone! Amelia has been in 4-H since 2019. We owned chickens before then.

She breeds Ayam Cemani and I am “creating” showgirls from scratch. Join us for some fun, information, and dont forget shenanigans!

Snowball has a dirty bum lol a few of the chicks do so we are giving some rooster booster (vitamins and probiotics) in their water. We also like to give out sauerkraut…(only to adults and growouts) I know it sounds odd but it’s loaded with probiotics and helps promote good gut health. It is great in moderation. It’s been super hot here so everyone is drinking an insane amount of water! Snowball is my absolute all time favorite momma.

It always amazes me at how fast these lil buggers grow! I’ve already had to adjust the heat plate to give them more room to be able to go under it!

Does anyone else have a “do not hatch” list? We even have “does not mom” list which categorizes those who make great Broodys but absolutely sucks as moms so if we use her to incubate eggs we best pull those before they hatch 🤣 we even have our “anytime mom” list which means they steal chicks or even will take chicks if we need them to whether they are broody or not! This girl is lovingly named imposter because she went to a show thinking she was Ruby….when in fact we were wrong 😂 she is on our “do not hatch” list because she resides to be safely moved from the best box to the ground for hatching. She also will move from box to box regularly it just depends on which one has more eggs 🤦‍♀️

I don’t post much on my son as simply he doesn’t like it much on my personal page let alone here. Congratulations 2026 graduates! Ian graduated Tech with advanced certificate, PA certificates, national technological honors society, as well as High school! I am super proud of the man he is becoming! Always quick to jump in and lend a hand even if it’s to spend his off time helping friends to fix their vehicles! He has been hired on by his boss full time as he’s been working with him since 11th grade in co-op.

Absolutely love this feeder for a smaller coop. It is deep so less billing out feed which means less waste! feeder

I can finally start using bedding and not have to sprinkle feed on the ground! This is always a happy day for me. Having to refresh paper towels or puppy pads daily vs. bedding that gets refreshed every couple of days with a quick scoop out in between refresh times around the feeder and waterer where they seem to go a lot.
