It's been a beautiful spring and the sheep are happy. 2026 is a year of reset and rest at the farm, and I am taking a break from most elements of farming for profit and focusing on growing for fun and community. I'd love some help caring for this space--even when I'm not pushing production, there's still a lot to do!

Mark your calendars for upcoming volunteer work days:
Wednesday May 13 from 5:30-7:30 pm
Saturday May 30 from 9 am to 3 pm
Wednesday June 10 from 5-8 pm
Wednesday June 24 from 5-8
Saturday July 11 from 9 am to 3 pm
Wednesday July 22 from 5-8 pm

You'll go home with whatever is in season (eggs, asparagus, and goat cheese at the moment), dirt under your fingernails, and a renewed sense of connection with the earth and her inhabitants. I'll be serving some type of vegan gluten free soup, feel free to bring sides to share.

All ages, physical abilities, and levels of experience welcome. It would be helpful if you let me know you're coming (so I can plan and prioritize work options and communicate if there's a last minute change) but it's also fine if you just show up!

Snow day on the farm! The animals have mixed reviews on the weather. The sheep are unfazed, preferring to eat hay from the feeder outside though they have a hay feeder in their hut. The goats are happy it's snowing and not raining but they would rather it not be precipitating at all. They want to be warm and dry, though they were curious enough about my method of removing snow from the high tunnel roof that they emerged from their shelter to watch. The chickens think the sky is falling and as such, are afraid to venture forth from their snug coop. This lone bird was the exception. The chicken coop is also harboring an opportunistic flock of starlings who will someday write home about their all inclusive vacation in the Alps.

This is the last box of the season! Thanks to everyone who joined in this adventure. I'm stepping back from farming for a bit, and looking forward to settling in for a long winter's nap before I figure out what's next.

Thanks to the behind-the-scenes crew which this week included Josh, Kathryn, Tracey, Lin, Keith, Pam, and Marina. I definitely don't do this alone!

2. Our water stopped flowing on Wednesday, which made preparing for Thursday's CSA particularly challenging. Thanks to neighbors for water for animals and for sharing their showers and sinks. We hope to have running water on Tuesday!
3. It's pumpkin season and the goats are thrilled!
4. Old school celery experiment
5. New fangled fermentation tools: pickle pipes from (pictures of ginger carrot pickles in process)

Another amazing harvest party! Thanks to everyone who came to help! I didn't weigh what we harvested, but I'm guessing it was at least 150 lbs. There was a great selection of carrot food, from salads to soup to cake, and even carrot hot dogs! Congratulations to Joel with his winning guess on the pumpkin's weight of 43.2 pounds, and to Linda, Dakota, and Traci for being our other door prize winners.

A beautiful day with beautiful people!

It's time for our harvest party, the one where we actually harvest something!

Thanks to everyone who came to help at the farm yesterday and on September 27. By my estimates, we harvested 150 lbs of carrots, 50 lbs of beets, and more than 800 lbs of winter squash! We also cleaned up 60 lb of onions, weeded some spinach, removed the shade cover from the high tunnel, and dug up 200 lbs of sweet potatoes! And we made new connections and snuggled with goats, who are very happy for all the carrot and feet tops. Thank you!!
