Every gallon you buy keeps our lights on — literally.
And in 2026, that means more than most people realize.
Across the U.S., small family dairies are disappearing at a staggering rate. According to the USDA, the number of licensed dairy farms has dropped from over 70,000 in the early 2000s to fewer than 24,000 today — a decline of nearly 65%. Iowa alone has lost hundreds of small dairies in the last decade as consolidation pushes milk production into fewer, larger operations.
Every year, more barns go dark. More family herds are sold. More generational farms close their doors.
At Tenley Farms we are incredibly grateful to have a reason to turn our light on, twice a day-everyday.
When you choose local milk, pork, or beef from a small farm like ours, you’re not just buying food — you’re voting for:
-Family farms to stay in production
-Local agriculture that keeps rural communities alive
-Financially sustainable farms that don’t have rely on government subsidies.
-Real food produced by the hands of the farmer.
We’re grateful every single day that our barn lights still have a reason to turn on.
We’re grateful that our kids get to grow up milking cows instead of just hearing stories about “how the farm used to be.”
We’re grateful that you believe in small agriculture enough to keep us here🥹🤍
From our family to yours — thank you for keeping our lights on.
You make it possible for small dairies like ours to survive in a world where so many no longer can.
