🎨 Talk of the Town 🎨
This week, we’re doing Talk of the Town a little differently and shining the spotlight on something happening throughout our entire village: the inaugural Medina Triennial.
If you’ve seen the Triennial maps and signs around town and wondered exactly what it’s all about, here’s the quick version:
It’s a completely FREE, village-wide contemporary art exhibition featuring more than 100 works across 10 locations throughout Medina, with artists from our region and around the world.
And this isn’t just something Medina happens to be hosting this year. The Medina Triennial is designed to return every three years, bringing artists, visitors and another village-wide exhibition back to Medina.
That’s pretty darn cool for our little village.
One of our favorite things when someone visits Nola’s from outside the area is getting to tell them what else they should experience while they’re here. Check out the bookstore. Grab some great local chocolate. Try one of our restaurants. Walk Main Street. And this summer we’ve been able to add another one to the list:
“Have you checked out the Triennial?”
That’s what we love about something like this. It gives people another reason to come to Medina, but once they’re here, they discover everything else our community has to offer too. And for all of the shops, restaurants and small businesses throughout the village, that matters.
It also gives those of us who live here an opportunity to experience something completely different in our own backyard. You don’t need to know anything about contemporary art and you don’t need a ticket. Grab a map, pick a location and go see it.
The inaugural Medina Triennial runs through September 7, so if you’ve been meaning to check it out, now’s the time. Make an afternoon of it. See some art, walk around town, grab something to eat or drink and enjoy Medina while you’re here.
