Freedom Fresh Freedom Fresh is a leader in the distribution of fresh produce to cruise ship and export, foodservice and retail establishments.

After over 30 years in the fresh produce business, most would start looking forward to slowing down, not Walter Vazquez, Sr. He realized that a tremendous need existed in South Florida, and together with his sons Walter Jr. and Jorge they opened Freedom Fresh in 2001. The goal was simple, to provide quality produce with the highest level of customer service in a state of the art facility. Together with a great team of employees, the Vazquez family has established Freedom Fresh as the premier fresh produce distributor in South Florida that has all the infrastructure of a national company, while maintaining the entrepreneurial spirit necessary to respond quickly to local needs. What began with a team of about thirty employees servicing wholesale and retail customers has grown into a full service produce operation with divisions responsible for foodservice, wholesale, retail, cruise ship, export and third party handling and storage in a 100,000 square foot facility with a team of over 170 employees. The commitment and dedication of the Freedom Fresh team to quality and customer service are the principals we were founded on and what sets us apart. The Western vegetable market continues to be very challenging. Disease pressure, recent heat, and the fall transition are all taking a toll on production across the West.

The next several weeks are going to be difficult. Pricing will remain elevated, supplies will be tight, and we should expect some quality and availability challenges until the desert gets fully established.

For now, hold on. The next six weeks could be a wild ride. We appreciate everyone’s patience and partnership as we work through it.
