I'm honored to share a truly heartwarming story with everyone today, as it's been a day filled with great joy. As many of you know, we raise chickens and have a sizable flock of over 500 chicks and chickens. While we try not to get too attached to our animals, some inevitably capture our hearts with their unique and captivating personalities. One breed that has stolen my heart is the Black White Crested Polish. I recently moved a young chicken to the coop housing this breed, and for the past 3-4 months, this little chick would greet me at feeding time by jumping up on the water bowl, while the others would run for cover. As a farmer, I know that this is a business, and sometimes we have to make tough decisions. Today, I sold the chick, and although I felt a pang of sadness, I was reminded of the joys that come with raising chickens. When Emily Hallford sent me a picture of her daughter cuddling with the chick in their backyard, I felt a sense of joy and fulfillment. They've named the chick Pom Pom, and it's wonderful to see them forming a strong and lasting bond.
