Highlands - the fluffy cows you can eat!
Some may not want to hear this but Highland cattle are in fact BEEFđĽŠcattle!
Highland beef is some of the most coveted, premium beef in the world, and known for its leanness & muscle marbling tendencies. A Highlands heavy hair coat minimizes the need for subcutaneous fat, therefore fat is deposited into the muscle.
Heritage sized highlands are the the perfect homestead family sized cattle! Highlands can also be milked and are known to have a high butterfat content and likely be A2A2. Most families dont need an 1800-2000lb sized beef animal, and often have to split beef into quarters or halves to accomodate their freezer space. This means you might only get 1/4-1/2 of your favorite cuts. A smaller framed animal means less feed and more feed efficiency which makes highlands a great addition to your homestead, not just for their fluffy cuteness...but for the ability to feed your family!
