Common question, what am I looking for in a quality mum?
A lot of factors boil down to personal preference.
🌺 Size depends largely on your area. Unless you have a large front porch or patio, our 14” 😈 Monster may not be the best fit for you. It takes up a lot of space 😊. We have 11” and 9” for smaller areas. 10” and 12” baskets if you’re going up high.
🌼 Flowered or tighter bud? Some have events happening and they want instant color. We’ll keep some colors 50% to 75% flowered for these occasions. We also have a majority just starting to pop and a few in between those.
🌺 Colors are strictly personal preference. Most of our 14” and 11” are Tri-color. The 9’s are straight or mono-color.
Some things however should be a deal breaker if you don’t see it or if it wasn’t done….
—All large mums should be netted to prevent splitting. Above a 9” or 10” should have it.
-Green foliage. The leaves should be green….dark green. There may be a little variance between varieties but it should be a nice, healthy looking green. The underneath, like summer flowers, may show a little yellow from the lack of sun. That’s not a problem.
-Last but definitely the biggest concern…buds/flowers. You want to see a ton of buds if they’re just starting to pop or mostly color and not so much green if they’re already blooming. These are supposed to stand out or “pop” on your porch, patio and walkway’s. We’ve attached a couple photos of our 14” monster 👿 mums. One is just stating to show color and the other 2 are still tight, as they’re our last bloom spot. Look at the number of buds or blooms just starting. We stopped counting at 765,963 buds but we’re sure there’s going to be a million 🤣🤣.
