This is sad. Increased costs due to tariffs, oil, diesel fuel, fertilizer all increasing due to the Iranian conflict are not helping the dilemma.

Most U.S. farmers will lose money this year. Landowners and investors are increasingly trying to make money from their land, not what can be grown from it.

If you grew up or worked on a vegetable farm, you know its very upsetting to disc under perfectly good produce, lettuce, spinach or whatever. Money gone, never to be recrouped.

After a drop in demand driven by a nationwide outbreak of cyclosporiasis, California growers are plowing lettuce back into the soil and laying off workers.
