Again the Schmitts have always been devout & loyal Catholics.
It is essential to recall that our loyalty and allegiance are to the Pope, rather than to the leader of any nation, including the United States. I strongly disagree with the idea that a priest should express personal opinions from the pulpit that are contrary to the views expressed by Pope Leo XIV. A priest who disregards the Pope's opinion view may cause people to reject the Catholic Church.

Trump sidestepped going to Vietnam as a young man, several times. And this priest never mentions that dishonorable fact

Schmitts were/are always devout faithful Catholics . Philip Schmitt V made his first communion , Rocky Point LI. Old Phil & Anne , both 94. He's a cousin of my Dad & in Fdale farmed 2 miles away. Phil III was a year ahead of me at St. Kilians & Holy Family. In our early youth we were good friends, rode our bikes around with John V., played baseball in our barn yards. Etc. I was envious of Phil because he was a year older, he got to drive trucks to the Bronx before I, first flat bed, then a tractor trailer. Debbie from Plainview came from the Rottkamp family tree. Still big agricultural operation, 3 stands & Holy Schmitt's Horse radish. Phil & Deb are proud grandparents of the first communicant. ✝️ Keep the Catholic faith alive. Congrats to young Phil.

My father in-law , Stuart Alexander's old dairy farm in Cincinnatus NY 15 miles outside of Cortland. No longer operates as a dairy farm. He sold out in 1989.
Nothing sadder for a farmer to auction off equipment, livestock.

The Watsons were dairy farmers for generations, the rhythms of their lives defined by their cows. Until this spring.

Spring activities going back to the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s. Tractors were much smaller, same tasks. Spring time fresh air, sunshine, smell of newly plowed fields, ah..... hard to believe its been over 30 years since the equipment auction sale for this farm
