🐂 Welcome to the crew! 🐂

Open Spear Ranch is excited to welcome two new bulls to the herd! Recently branded by ranch owner Dennis McDonald, these handsome boys have officially joined our resident bulls as they settle in.

For now, they're enjoying good feed, plenty of room to roam, and getting acquainted with their new pasture mates. Like the rest of the bulls, they're patiently waiting for the day they're turned out with the cows and can get to work helping shape the next generation of Open Spear Ranch genetics.

Life on the ranch is always moving forward, and we're proud to continue building a strong herd with quality cattle and careful stewardship.

Springtime at Open Spear Ranch means BABIES everywhere! 🐴🐮🪿

Not only is the ranch home to horses and cattle, but every year the Canadian Geese/Mallard ducks decide Open Spear Ranch is the perfect place to stop, nest, and raise their fluffy little goslings/ducklings. Watching the ponds come alive with tiny waddling families is just one more reminder of how special this season is.

Calving has officially come to a close, and foaling season is in full swing with many beautiful babies already on the ground. From playful calves and curious foals to fuzzy little goslings/ducklings, the ranch is full of new life, energy, and plenty of entertainment.

There’s nothing better than spring on the ranch and getting to enjoy this beautiful season of babies alongside the local wildlife. ❤️

🌿🐴 Springtime at Open Spear Ranch means one thing… foaling season is in full swing! 🐴🌿

We are excited to welcome two outstanding c**ts to the ranch this year—both grandsons of Metallic Cat and born from two of our National Cutting Horse Association money earners!

✨ A handsome bay out of Ms Sin City Kitty
✨ A striking sorrel out of Pici Kitty

These boys are already showing style, athleticism, and the kind of breeding we’re proud to stand behind. We can’t wait to watch them grow and develop over the summer.

📌 Both c**ts will be available for purchase after weaning on or about October 1st.

There’s never a dull moment at Open Spear Ranch 🤠

From fixing water tanks with our newest ranch hand, Huntir, the hangin' tree cowdog, who’s already proving his worth, to tagging calves and making our rounds checking on mares and their foals, every day brings a little grit and a lot of reward.

It’s the kind of life where hard work meets quiet moments, and the sunrises and sunsets remind you exactly why you chose it.

Wouldn’t trade it for anything. 🌅🐎🐄

Spring has officially arrived at Open Spear Ranch! 🌱🐎

Our first foal of the season is on the ground, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome this little one to the world. This beautiful baby is out of Boonsmals War Lena and already showing the curiosity and spirit that make this time of year so special around the ranch.

There’s nothing quite like the start of foaling/calving season — new life in the pasture, longer days, and the promise of a great year ahead.
