We love our wild grassy meadows. 🌾 They provide habitat and food for many bird species, and in return, the birds help us naturally manage pests around the farm. It’s a simple partnership that benefits everyone. Plus, there’s something incredibly peaceful about watching them move through the fields and hearing their songs throughout the day. 🐦💚

Mom and Dad recently visited Raby Castle and its newly designed gardens, and what a wonderful experience it was! The estate’s 200 acres are absolutely beautiful, and they were delighted to visit during the Castle in Bloom event, which is still ongoing.
While there, they had the pleasure of meeting Becky Crowley () and Anna Potter of . They attended a fascinating cut flower garden talk with Becky, followed by a flower arranging workshop with Anna. Anna’s magnificent floral displays throughout the castle were truly spectacular and added even more magic to an already stunning setting.
It was a real pleasure to meet them both, learn from their expertise, and be inspired by their creativity.
is a truly special place, and if you ever find yourself in Durham, England, it’s an absolute must-visit! 🌸🏰✨

Back in 2018, our family visited Mendocino for the very first time.

We rented a little house by the ocean and completely fell in love with this place.

The kind of love that keeps pulling you back.
We came again.
And again.

Somehow, the place we first visited as tourists became our home… and eventually, our family flower farm. 🌸

A centerpiece of Mom and Dad’s trip to England has been visiting gardens across this beautiful country. From grand historic estates to intimate cottage gardens, each one has offered inspiration and a deeper appreciation for the rich gardening heritage of the UK.
It’s also eye-opening to realize that a nation so deeply rooted in flowers and gardens still imports the vast majority of its cut flowers. Thankfully, a growing movement of British flower farmers is working to change that. This year, Flowers from the Farm made its debut as an exhibitor at the Chelsea Flower Show, shining a spotlight on locally grown blooms and the farmers behind them.
Mom and Dad had the pleasure of meeting several Flowers from the Farm members at Chelsea, as well as a few more growers during a visit to northern England. Several shared how much Erin Benzakein has inspired their flower farming journeys, and a few had taken her courses. We loved hearing that, because Floret has been such a big inspiration for us at EarthSpoke too, and for so many flower growers back home in the U.S.
We came away encouraged by the passion, dedication, and community spirit of these growers. They are doing important work to help reclaim the UK’s domestic cut-flower industry, and we wish them every success.

Mom and Dad enjoyed every bit of their time at the Chelsea flower show.

Inside the Chelsea Flower Show there was so much to see and experience- the show gardens, the Pavilion, the vendors everything dressed in its finest even the guests. They spent almost two days pacing themselves thru the flower extravaganza- foxglove, delphiniums, lupine, irises were the stars. Mom found some new favorites to add to the farm- polemonium- Jacob’s ladder, a variegated penstemon, roses, thalictrum nimbus…so much inspiration here!
They especially loved meeting fellow farmers , , .
