PEACH INFO 👇🏼 Please read!
Peach bloom has come and gone and we’ve spent several days assessing our peach crop this year. First— We are super grateful for the amount of peaches we anticipate having this season. (Things could be a lot worse.) 💗
We are making an early decision NOT to plan for pick-your-own peaches. We know many of you look forward to this each year, but sadly, our crop is not large enough to support the anticipated crowds that the past peach seasons have drawn. The crop is spotty and greatly reduced from last year. To provide people with the best peaches, we will be pre-picking all that we have.
There are likely a couple factors that contributed to the reduced crop. Primarily—winter temperatures dipped pretty low a couple times this year, which we suspect killed some fruit buds on our less winter hardy varieties. Thankfully we didn’t loose any trees. Additionally, the large crop last year and some tree damage from the massive rain and wind storm late last summer caused considerable stress to the trees. Less than desirable bloom weather may have also contributed to fruit set with poor pollination. All in all, we are thankful to have any peaches at all!
Lastly— We will still have some peaches for you! YAY
Thankfully a reduced crop on 3 acres of peach trees is still quite a few peaches. Low years won’t stop us from growing our peach orchard, expansion is always in the works.🍑 We will make announcements later in summer about when and where to find our peaches!
Stay tuned for more information about strawberries picking coming in the next month. We’ve made some exciting changes and look forward to our best strawberry season YET. 🍓
