Greaney's Turkey Farm

Greaney's Turkey Farm Family owned and operated turkey farm offering free range, drug free Thanksgiving turkeys. We also sell day old and started turkey poults and broiler chicks.

The Farm is owned and operated by Scott and Tracy Greaney. This is truly a “Family Farm” with old fashion values. Both Scott and Tracy work off the farm as Registered Nurses during the week and ally their health care back grounds to their daily farm practices i.e. healthy low stress environment, fresh high quality food, clean fresh unadulterated water, and preventative health practices via holisti

c animal husbandry stewardship. With Scott’s degree in Food Science and Sanitation we have owned and operated our own poultry processing plant since 1983. Applying the strictest sanitation and food handling techniques by trained personnel/family members, we are able to offer old fashion Fresh Thanksgiving Turkeys free of added preservatives during processing. All of our personnel under go sanitation instruction and certification are expected to adhere to the highest quality control practice that meet and exceed the Federal and State of Maine Department Of Agriculture’s recommendations. We are very thankful and proud, that area families have made Greaney’s Turkey Farm a part of their annual family tradition.

While left unsupervised....I thought it would be a good idea to bake up a couple of pies......the rims weren't perfectly round so they had to go 🤔 and I'm getting hungry. One blueberry pie and a strawberry rhubarb pie.....boy do these smell good cooking! The Head Office said I could eat one if they aren't sold.....

She's done it again! Its a chilly day and we had a couple people asking for rolls! So here we have it, Old Fashioned Yeast Rolls fresh out of the oven! She had a couple extras so of course I had to butter one up right out of the oven... I think we just may take some of these home tonight with some baked beans!😋

Now to make those over sized marshmallows you see along country roads.
The green grass is tightly wrapped in a double layer of stretch film to allow fermentation to take over the next 4-6 weeks. It's like sauerkraut for cows.....they love it!!!!! It is very high in nutrients.....it makes lots of milk and lots of high end perfectly marbled beef.....

The grass is down, and in windrows...now to try out this new OMG round baler...
And this is still very green and wet ,but it's going to be wrapped later on today to ferment into grass silage.....the cows love it!!!!

The winter wheat is growing great! It's up 18"-20" ......time to start cutting and baling. Of course this will be baled and wrapped for balage (marshmallows) that should weigh 1200 to 1500 pounds each. This crop is pretty impressive to see and smells great. These bales will be fed to a herd of black Angus cattle at Frederic Farm in Starks Maine. Can't wait to see the total number of bales pulled off this field!

Last August/September we worked many...many hours reclaiming an interval field that had been setting idle for three years to allow time for the herbicide used on corn for many years by a local farmer to break down. We also had two major floods when the Sandy River decided to come up over the banks by 3-4 feet, washing any of the residuals out of the soil ,replacing it with all that beautiful river nutrients!....We also put 150-ish loads of 10-15 year old composted manure on the field, then seeded it down with a mix of hay seed formulated for beef cattle. Once the grass seed was tucked in the soil ,we added a "nurse crop" of winter wheat to protect the new grass seed sprouts over the winter and then early spring against weeds from competing with the grass.........
