The days are longer, the flowers are growing and you are receiving your first letter from Sweet Birch Farm— all signs of spring! Even though the weather has been on the cool side, I can see the hope of warm weather throughout the farm. We have the lettuce and kale planted and growing nicely. The dandelions, hyacinths, and daffodils are growing. These early flowers provide food for the bees. One of the hives was so overpopulated that it had to be separated since they were about ready to swarm.
Next week, Saturday, Katie is going to start her weekly yoga class at the farm from 9:30-10:30. Alina has her soaps and skincare products available to sell. We are also in talks with Katie about offering a soap making class after one of her wonderful yoga classes in June (perhaps the 13th). See below for details!

Does it seem like things run smoothly around the farm? Grass is cut, wood is stacked, nothing really ever breaking? Well, that is because of my sons Ian & Henry. Ian visits us everyday and works tirelessly. Both of them help us fix things that are broken, improve on things that can be improved upon and much much more! Without them, we wouldnt have weeded the corn field so that everyone could eat our famous corn…which is now ready for sale!

Do you practice self care? I know I have to as a 72 year old woman working on the farm. If not, my body would break! Effective self care requires a mind-shift. It is not selfish for us to practice self care. But it does require self-awareness. You need to check in with yourself and ask, “What do I need?” Is your mindfulness practice focusing on the taste, aroma & quiet atmosphere as you taste your morning cup of coffee? Do you take a walk in nature? Exercise? Listen to music? All of these promotes wellness, manages stress and can alleviate pain. If you want to start with some self care, you can always sign up for the yoga class being offered this Sunday at the farm! Think about it. The time for self care is now!
See our flyers (and pictures below for new exciting events and items for purchase! Our Harvest Festival is coming up! Yoga is this Sunday! And my talented daughter-in-law is selling these beautiful gourds and dried flowers!
