The coffee is hot, the bread is fresh, and the bakery smells like a pretty good reason to take the scenic route to work this morning ☕

The first Dill Pickle Loaf of the season has officially arrived 🥒🌾

And because every new seasonal bread deserves a proper welcome, I sacrificed a loaf today in the name of research and quality control 🤭

The verdict?

I turned it into a grilled cheese sandwich and it was absolutely incredible.

The tang of the sourdough, the savory dill, the little pops of pickle throughout the loaf, and that crispy buttery crust… it might be one of my favorite summer breads we make.

The good news is that this is just the beginning. The first batch of Dill Pickle Loaves will be headed to the farmers market this Saturday!

We will NOT be at the bakery storefront Saturday.

Instead, you’ll find us one street over at Earth’s Bounty Farmers Market in The MAX Courtyard. Come visit our tent between 8am-Noon for shopping and preorder pickups.

☕♥️ Behind the scenes at the bakery…

It’s been one of those nonstop, running-from-one-thing-to-the-next kind of days, so a little sweet treat was absolutely necessary. 😅

Since I can’t tolerate most regular dairy products from the grocery store, I decided to make myself a homemade caramel latte-style coffee topped with fresh whipped cream. And let me tell you… homemade whipped cream is in a completely different league.

Just heavy cream, a little sweetener, and a few minutes with a mixer. No long ingredient list. No fillers. Just simple, real ingredients. 🤍

If you’ve never made whipped cream from scratch, consider this your sign. Once you taste the real thing, it’s hard to go back.

Now it’s back to dough prep, loaf shaping, dishes, and all the other glamorous bakery things. 😆🥖

One of the most common questions I get in the bakery is:

“What makes sourdough different from regular bread?”

The short answer? Time.

Most commercial breads are designed to be made as quickly as possible, hold up to weeks on the shelf, and retain that “just baked” softness we all love. True sourdough takes hours, even days, to properly ferment, and if you’ve ever had real bread, you know all too well that it doesn’t last forever.

During that slow fermentation process, naturally occurring yeasts and bacteria begin breaking down parts of the grain. That’s one reason why many people find traditional sourdough easier to digest than conventional bread.

It’s also why I say we’re not just making bread. We’re preserving a process that’s been feeding people for thousands of years.

The funny thing is that in a world obsessed with speed, some things really are better when they’re allowed to take their time.

And today we’ve got a NEW scone flavor making its debut:
✨ Raspberry Lemonade Scones ✨

Bright raspberry, fresh lemon flavor, and the perfect little taste of summer tucked into a buttery sourdough scone 🍋🫐

ALSO… apparently I completely lost my ability to count while making cinnamon rolls yesterday because I made 4 batches of dough and cut them like I only made 3 🫣😂

So the cinnamon rolls are absolutely MASSIVE today.

No complaints from the bakery, honestly.
