On Saturday, after a tragic accident, we said goodbye to our Rubber Ducky and laid her to rest in one of the pastures behind our house.

She was a large part in the future of our program, a beautiful girl with excellent test results and she should’ve had a long life ahead of her filled with love and puppies.
Unfortunately, things don’t always happen the way we plan and although we only had 2 1/2 years with her, we wouldn’t change it for the world.
She was the dog I gifted to my husband after we found out we were pregnant with Lisa. And she made the loneliness of maternity leave and post partum so much easier for me.

It’s hard to post things like this because we love to show the side of breeding where new puppies are being born and new life is beginning, but tragedy doesn’t skip over anyone forever.

Anyone who reads this, please hug your fur babies close tonight and give them an extra treat before bed because there will come a day when you won’t be able to do it any longer and I pray that day is a long ways away for you.

Can I brag on my husband for a minute? Because he definitely deserves it! Look at this beautiful fence he built for me - the three dinosaurs love it! The horses were a little freaked out seeing them clearly for the first time though 😂😂 but boy am I blessed with the man I have and his seemingly endless abilities.

I love all my animals, but I wouldn’t have as many as I do if it weren’t for him and his (semi-reluctant) acceptance and support 😂😂 also, on a side note, emus are not as light as I thought they’d be at this age - my smallest boy Sea Smoke wasn’t as heavy but Syrax and Caraxes were a struggle to carry over.. I love these big ol goof balls

If anyone is wondering what I do in my off time (the little bit I have 😂) I’m a crafty lady! Had I ever made a balloon arch before? No, but when my sister asks, I answer - not half bad for a first attempt

Is it late at night? Yes, yes it is, and I’ve had a long day BUT… the final pickle count is in!!
- 14 quarts of regular spears (eighths)
- 10 quarts of sandwich chips
- 8 quarts of XL spears (quarters)
- 9 quarts of halves

For a grand total of….. 41 quarts of pickles and I’m going to bed 😂

That means the winner of our pickle guessing contest is Greg Fleming with the closest guess of 28! Ironically, he also texted me yesterday about pears so maybe there will be more canning in my future (or maybe I’ll just call it a day and eat them fresh) 😬

Many of you know us from our puppies, and I’ve mentioned my day job in the past, but to say farming is just one of my jobs just doesn’t do it justice - I was born into a farming family, we own a farm now, and I work in the agriculture industry as a custom applicator so it’s safe to say it is something I’m very passionate about.

The number of farms in America has been on the decline for years while the average age of farmers has been on the rise during the same period and the only way we can change that is to cultivate a love of agriculture in the next generation and allow them every opportunity to continue on in Ag instead of pushing them out in lieu of temporary progress.

So here we are today at our local Ag Expo to continue cultivating that in Lisa, our next generation! She already has such a love for animals and tractors that it’s hard to imagine that seed isn’t already planted (yes, pun intended 😂), but fertilizing and watering that seed is just as critical as planting that seed in the first place.

Well, the time has almost come for these two to retire - Sylvester has had his ofa testing done and is set to take over as main man for our most handsome Thorn 💕 so this will be the very last litter for both Ella and Thorn 🥲 the ending of an era, but we’re excited for the next chapter. We have first pick male spoken for at this time however first and second pick female are available as well as second pick male so don’t wait!

Deposits open now! Puppies should be born in November, ready to go in January

Well, guys, I thought I had more jars with lids 😂 so I got stopped halfway through canning pickles and I’ll have to pick back up tomorrow after a jar run - however, the bad news for everyone who made guesses is I’m only HALF WAY DONE 😂😂 I guess we will see when I finish up whose the closest but for now, please admire my hard work (plus 2 hours of blueberry picking) because I ran out of jars

Let’s play a little guessing game shall we? How many quarts of pickles do you think my ginormous collection of cucumbers will make? 😂 closest guess gets a free quart of pickles in 2 weeks once they’ve cured 😉

Our beautiful India girl will be having her very last litter for us ready to go this Christmas! We will be using a fully health tested outside stud named buddy and intend to keep one of her girls to continue on her legacy after she retires - we do have third pick female as well as second and third pick male available from this pairing if anyone is looking for a companion or breeding prospect from parents who are both ofa certified and health tested, we should have some beautiful options!
