On Saturday, after a tragic accident, we said goodbye to our Rubber Ducky and laid her to rest in one of the pastures behind our house.
She was a large part in the future of our program, a beautiful girl with excellent test results and she should’ve had a long life ahead of her filled with love and puppies.
Unfortunately, things don’t always happen the way we plan and although we only had 2 1/2 years with her, we wouldn’t change it for the world.
She was the dog I gifted to my husband after we found out we were pregnant with Lisa. And she made the loneliness of maternity leave and post partum so much easier for me.
It’s hard to post things like this because we love to show the side of breeding where new puppies are being born and new life is beginning, but tragedy doesn’t skip over anyone forever.
Anyone who reads this, please hug your fur babies close tonight and give them an extra treat before bed because there will come a day when you won’t be able to do it any longer and I pray that day is a long ways away for you.
