J Bar L Ranch J Bar L Ranch was established in 1974 by brother Joe Laurence in an effort in his retirement to follow in his own father's Legacy.

To get back to the basics and the life that he knew and loved as a young boy in the early days back whenever cattle roam free across Louisiana. The brand J Bar L (JHL) finds its roots in Mr. Laurence's father's brand J Stripes L (JEL). The primary breed of cattle that we raise our Simmental cattle and Texas Longhorn. Is steer in our cover photo is named Mr. Rull , he and all of the other Texas Lon

ghorns that we have on our property are direct descendants from the herd that produced Texas A&M mascot "Bevo", of which relative of ours had donated the Texas A&M mascot to the college and many years later offered our family several of his offspring to carry on the lineage.

We had a “meet and greet” gathering this morning as Elvira introduced her new daughter to the herd!!

His mom rejected him. After a trip to the vet, complete with injections, iv’s and lots of love and care, not to mention many bottles of milk replacer, he’s about to join the herd!! Probably be surprised to learn that he’s a cow instead of a human!!
