Part of Fourth grade’s Zoology “exam;” I shouted out an animal classification (bird, reptile, fish, amphibian, mammal, etc). They had to grab the correct type of animal and name it in English. We also played “Carnivore, Herbivore, Omnivore.” They had to grab the correct animal, tell me the name, and what it eats. Such a fun “test!”

We are learning so much science vocabulary such as vertebrates/ invertebrates, viviparous/ oviparous, predator/ prey, and more! Do you know what these words mean??? 🤓🤩

I’ve been teaching Maranatha her ocean animals in English/Spanish at home too!

Fourth grade is starting to look like a zoo! My students had to prepare and present their animal research, write detailed pet care plans, and design appropriate habitats for their pets. I finally approved all the class pet applications and now the critters can join our class!
So far we have a Honduran curly haired tarantula, semiaquatic turtle, tadpoles, a juvenile tree frog, and a baby bunny. The scorpion habitat is complete, we are just waiting to catch a good one! Maranatha wanted to participate so she is trying to hatch a butterfly in a jar lol. Learning is So fun!

A huge prayer request answered today; They got an AC up working in my classroom!!! 🥳 I am so beyond grateful. Being able to teach in a cool, temperature controlled environment (not 100 degrees) is going to change my life and the lives of my students! 🥹

My students were SO happy! They were motivated to stay focused and they didn’t want to leave class, haha! We all had so much more energy to work hard and learn instead of being in survival mode. No more heat sickness, headaches, lethargy, and dehydration!! Thank you Lingo and mantenimiento for making this dream a reality!

There are still many other classrooms that need AC. They are still working on phase one of a 3 phase school AC project. If you feel led to invest in our students and teachers, let me know!

El Camino celebrated the diverse culture of Honduras this morning with an Acto Cívico program. Families came to enjoy folklórico dances, songs, and presentations from our students.

Honduras has so much beauty in our culture. I taught my students to celebrate the good things about this culture, but more importantly to think about how to build a culture of heaven here on earth.

May our main focus be “Lord, Your kingdom come, Your will be done here on earth” and in the country of Honduras. May Honduras become a heavenly, righteous, and godly culture in preparation for Jesus to return!

We are taking a break from yogurt and instead making kombucha again! Kombucha is full of probiotics and antioxidants that are good for gut health and reduce inflammation. Our first batch we mixed with pineapple juice and it was delicious!!!

Pig processing Day #2; Salchicha/Sausage-making day! After church, the Lingos came over and helped us prep 37.5 lbs of seasoned breakfast sausage (with imported sage) and 19 lbs of plain ground pork. We split all the meat between our families and have freezers full to last all year! We each got 10 lbs of bacon, + Boston butt, pork chops, chicharones, and ribs. I made a crockpot roast with the bones for supper. Yum! Seve and I are planning to have a lard-rendering day soon!

We still got those homesteader skills! Processed our hog today with our awesome missionary friends! (Mr pig was raised at the Children’s Home and profits went to support the kids!) Great memories and freezers full for both of our large families! Fixin’ chicharones tonight and grinding homemade sausage after church tomorrow!
