More than 4 years ago (October of 2021) we found this massive oak tree on the side of the road that fell in a storm. Using our builder’s network we got a crane and a semi truck to haul it to a local saw mill. Yesterday, Brenden and I finally went to see the slabs. Massive and 4” thick. The plan for 2 of the slabs is for me to build a 10’ x 4’ kitchen table this spring. We’ll see how that goes! Now to get them home to the farm and somehow into my shop. We needed a tractor just to flip them over to look on both side. Slabs do need a lot of work. Wish me luck!

Nightly ritual when it’s going to be below 30°. Of course Eddie is always a di*k to Phoenix when it’s treat time. He’s the boss of the stables.

Quite cold tonight! Horses get a late night snack to keep their internal furnaces working through the night.

Finally got around to clearing up all of our Halloween pumpkins and corn stalks. Dumping them into the composting bins is much easier with the track loader.

Beginning to clear a large area for a potential equipment barn. All these boulders and rocks I put here when I cleared the pasture. Of course now realize I need this space so here we go again with moving them all! A little slower process when I’m holding my phone and the controls at the same time.

Amazing how much you can get done in only 2 or 3 hours.

Getting to use the equipment to clear a 2,000 sq foot area full of boulders. Fun Friday evening. Ha. :)

The “teenage” chickens as well call them, are still a little too young to know to walk up into the coop. They walk down fine. So until they figure it out, I get to collect them each night one by one and guide them into the coop.

Just another evening on the farm. Had to clear a downed tree on the road to our farm. Filling up all of our diesel and gas before winter. And hauling firewood back over to the big wood shed.

Doing a little farm equipment shopping this morning. Might be time to take it to the next level! 😄
