Meet the self-appointed Boss of Molly Johns Farm… “Mister.” 🪿💙
If you’ve been out picking blueberries lately, you’ve probably noticed a certain goose making his rounds… and making sure everyone hears him.
He checks the blueberry patch, patrols the parking lot, and follows our pickers just to make sure everyone is behaving. Around here, he takes his job very seriously!
The truth is, he’s much more than our “security guard.” He’s been part of Molly Johns Farm since the very first Christmas trees were planted. Every morning and every evening, as soon as we pull in to do chores, we hear his familiar squawk. Out he comes from the barn, wings flapping, ready to greet the day and remind everyone who’s in charge. At night, we sometimes have to go looking for him because he likes to wander off and spend time with the wild geese before heading back to the barn.
He’s especially good at keeping the donkeys in line. The moment he comes marching through their area, they politely move over to make room for him. If they aren’t quick enough… well… he isn’t shy about giving them a little pinch! 😄
Last winter, we weren’t sure he was going to make it. As he’s gotten older, he doesn’t eat very well during the cold months, and we worried about him more than once. Seeing him back to his old bossy self this summer has been such a gift.
So if you stop by for our juicy, organic U-Pick blueberries, don’t be surprised if you’re inspected by the farm manager himself. He’ll probably be wandering through the blueberry bushes or strolling across the parking lot, making sure everything is running just the way he likes it.
Some farms have guard dogs… we have Mister. 🪿💙
We think he approves of blueberry season. 🫐❤️
