Hey y'all! I just wanted to reach out, let everyone know what's been happening lately, and slowly start integrating the page maintenance back into my life! ❤️
Some of you may know this already, but for those who don't, we are a foster family. We foster children who are in the states' care when we are needed, and back in October, right after I stopped posting, we took in a kiddo who needed a home. Then, a month later, we took in two more kiddos. We now have five boys ages 9, 7, 6, and twin 3-year-olds.
In these 5-ish months, we have been working on potty training the twins, establishing routines with all five kiddos, teaching how to do chores, working on paperwork associated with foster care, and cleaning and organizing the house (especially when we first got all the kids and after Christmas). Further, Trevor has switched jobs, and come November of this year, we expect another switch as well.
We are now starting our garden, have chicks we are raising, and have meat birds on order. We are breeding our rabbits for the first time this month, have built and painted tons of bee boxes and frames for later this month to add sugar water for the bees, and began tearing down old and dead trees and overgrown branches. We have begun making a dead hedge fence behind the garden as added wind and pest control (especially keeping rabbits out of the garden) as well. We have even begun selling our eggs ($3/dozen for anyone in central MO 😅).
All that to say, life is super busy! While I love sharing with everyone the inner workings of our homestead, I also realize that posting as frequently as I had been doing isn't conceivable while we have five boys we are raising. I do plan on posting some more. However, I expect it'll be much more spaced out. Please be patient with us as we navigate this incredible, busy time in our lives. Much love to you all!
