Violetto - in St Helena. Italian-French influenced restaurant. Amazing food, top notch service. We went with the tasting menu, however complimentary dishes and drinks kept on coming. At the end i was surprised to see the bill to be lower than expected. Not a Michelin star restaurant, but in my opinion definitely a Michelin 1 star worthy place.

It was our anniversary today. We decided to try this new restaurant in Palo Alto - Ettan. I have to say i was pleasantly surprised- if you like your food with a bit of a kick, this is the place. You guessed it right, this place serves Indian Fusion food.

Smoked beef plate short ribs for the very first time. The bark came out nice and crispy. The inside was very juicy. Turned out amazing. It took about 12 hours to smoke. Here is one thing i would change — I used mesquite charcoal briquettes— but perhaps next time i will stick to hickory wood chunks. Mesquite gives a very strong flavor in longer cooks.
Here are couple of pictures— look at how juicy the inside was. The red ring around the meat is the smoke ring.

Visiting San Francisco with family. What to eat for dinner? Peruvian pops up in my head. I think because a dear friend recently had Peruvian and was raving about it. The restaurant was a bit noisy, but the food was very good!

Modern Korean tapas. Food was excellent. Interestingly every item had some kind of fruit infused- pear, grape fruit, pineapple etc. However, the fruits were never over powering but provided just a hint of flavoring. Overall a fantastic experience with dishes that generally uplifted their natural flavors.
