Cherish your loved ones—especially your parents and grandparents—while they are still here. Call them, visit them, hug them, and tell them you love them. I would give anything just to receive one more hug or a simple phone call to say “hi.” Nothing else in this world matters to me more than that. Sometimes, I find myself envious of those who can still do the very things I can no longer do.

My granny was the sweetest yet strongest woman I have ever known. She raised me from the age of 12 and helped shape me into the strong woman I am today. She was my foundation, my safe place, and the heart of our family.

Losing all of my immediate family has been extremely difficult, and some days the pain feels impossible to carry. But I know I must continue pulling myself together for my son. Now it is my responsibility to carry on the legacy my granny began—to become even stronger, more confident, and more determined, and to give my son the beautiful life he deserves.

Granny poured so much into me, and now I will pour all of that love, strength, and wisdom into him. Her legacy will continue through us. 🤍
