This is from my own bee yard .. last year not one swarm landed on these swarm catchers .. this year they seem to like them.. makes it a lot easier to collect the bees(I have a day job) I took wood or log.. wrapped with screen.. dipped in bees wax .. attached to a pie tin or bucket bottom.. hang in tree near bee hives.. it's a lot easier then extracting from trees(20ft up), bushes ect..

Yesterday.. I found the smallest swarm .. maybe 50 bees & vergin queen.. so put them in a 2 frame box .I'll add a frame of brood and some nurser bees ..

Up date .. upside down queen cell.. both queen cages have queens in them.. the upside down cell... the queen came out of the bottom of the cell..close to the comb.

Has anyone seen an upside down queen cell... on the frame the left cell is going up the frame only attached at the bottom of the cell...and the one on the right is(normal) hanging down the frame attached at the top.. place a queen cage over cell.. will see what happens...

Made a wax melter.. wood box painted black.. restraunt sheet tray.. perforated pan.. recycled plastic wood(from a bench).. catch container.. old picture frame(will fix.. size and put on hinges)... oven thermostat prob( box gets to 185% bees wax melts at 145%).. handle and on wheels so I can move around... works great...

Bees have built up nicely.. use a piece of plastic glass as inner cover .. let's me see bees with out opening up hive... also can see hive beetles ( the CD case are beetle traps.. they work very good... just a pain to clean if you have a lot of propolis).. making lots of honey..

Things slowed down some and then this swarm .... caught a queen .. put her in cage and in box.. but the bees didn't all go in box and fighting out front.. looked some more... and found another queen(they didn't look alike one dark one golden so I think two swarm merged into one big one).. also found hive beetles in swarm(do they fly with swarm or catch a ride on a bees back).. so here I go again setting up two boxes.. will see how they split..

Miami.. caught a swarm last week. Put in swarm box(because that's all I had to work with)..the next day they swarmed out .. so I grabbed my stainless steel serving tray and started to bang on it (it makes a real loud sound, and has worked for me before) all the bee returned to box... SWARM CAUGHT TWICE..

Took 5 frames of honey.. off a hive this evening... put if freezer.. hope to get to more hives tomorrow.. would like to spin all at once..

Back on April 22.. I posted that I need a queen cell for one of my hives ... i cut the plastic foundation as an experiment...got a lot of replys over 22 thousand views... here she is.. marked her today(paint ran a little.. hope they don't take her out) but she got mated and is laying eggs.. the hole in foundation is now a way for the bees to get through frame with out going around..

Yellow box is doing great .. marked the queen (I know yellow is the color.. don't have a yellow marking pen) and clipped her wing .. 3/4 frame of eggs..
