Our Story

Launched June, 2015.

In 2004, I had an unexpected open-heart surgery to replace my mitral valve. One of the many changes I had to make in my life was addressing my excessive salt intake. Managing my heart disease became my number one priority. Let’s just say I had an "axe to grind with salt!" I was not happy with the available options for salt-free seasonings on the market at that time. I realized I needed to make my own blend of herbs and spices, creating a SALT FREE blend, all while keeping a bold taste. In 2015, my friends and family talked me into selling my blend with Whole Foods Market when they came to town looking for new, local products. This is how Big Axe Spice became not only what helped save my life, but also our family business.

The Big Axe goal is to provide a healthful option that makes it easier to lower your family’s daily salt intake, all while providing our valued customers with the finest natural herbs and spices, which we know will be ever-present in your family kitchen, as well as ours!
