Everyone has a story. ๐
By the grace of God, I have been blessed with a career that connects me to the arts. As we prepare for another Sip & Stroll Block Party โข๏ธ May 30, 2026, Middleborough Town Hall, I need to pause to appreciate the 104 remarkable people who are cultivating a culture of connection by sharing their talent with us on May 30. ๐ฅThe power of art pulled some of them away from corporate America to refuel their souls at local farmers markets, and fairs. ๐งบ A handful of artists are fierce food truck๐ drivin' mamma jamma's and dude's who (through their food) remind us that life was meant to be delicious. ๐๐ฎ๐
One potter transports her treasures in a vintage VW bus ๐. Another โป๏ธ recycles tailgates by turning them into benches. ๐ป Another is a real life mermaid from Cape Cod who helps us stay connected to the beach all year long. ๐ง๐พโโ๏ธ๐ง๐พโโ๏ธ๐ง๐พโโ๏ธ
A few are working multiple jobs, doing the daily grind, so they can afford to carve out time to keep their hands in paint, sand, shells, clay, dough, dirt, and lavender.๐ฟSome vendors are nurses who spend every day watching over others. ๐ฉบ Advocating is their love language.๐ฉ๐ผโโ๏ธOne writes books during the day for you to read to you children at night. ๐One covers books in paper bags so every purchase is a blind date with a ๐ book. Another is a young mom with a baby at home who sells clothing for your babies. One has a national patent for plant hangers. ๐ A few are United States veterans honoring the freedom they fought for through art. ๐บ๐ธ
For some, selling unique stuff is a rewarding side hustle that makes it possible to take the kids to Great Wolf Lodge ๐บ, and Lego World in New York. Many of the artists have endured pain and loss. Art is their therapy. The act of sharing their work with you restores purpose, and reclaims meaning and worth.๐๐ฟ Quite a few artists are honoring decades of family traditions that began in kitchens across the country. Jam, sauce, pasta, aprons, tea, spices, or soap...each purchase connects a part of their family with yours.๐๐ฅซ๐
Some of the artists moved here from other parts of the world. One sells handmade items crafted in cork imported from Portugal ๐ต๐น. One traveled from Lithuania ๐ฑ๐น and makes life sweet with honey ๐ฏ. One is from Mexico ๐ฒ๐ฝ and serves tacos out of a truck. One is an ๐ฎ๐ช Irish man serving Italian cannoli. ๐ฎ๐น
Celebrating their passion for color, texture, and flavor is their definition of freedom of expression.๐ญ๐จ๐ญ A pharmacist is one of our artists that day. She is trading goods prepared by women from all over the world, to benefit women all over the world. Her prescription is hope. ๐งฟ Another artist is a former beauty queen ๐who went from wearing gowns covered in bling to selling bling jewelry to or shoppers. On the subject of queens, one artist cooked for Queen Latifah ๐ and sells incredible salts. ๐งA few artists are offering healing ways to reset your mind, body, and spirit before the chaos of work, sports season, and dance comp is upon us. โจ๏ธ
One artist is a college Dean...another is a professor... These events provide balance, an artistic outlet, and an opportunity to bond with the community on a different level. ๐ Another artist left the education system in search of new ways to foster creativity. ๐ A handful of these creative souls are retired and use art to keep in touch with like-minded people who make life more beautiful. Several were born into a lineage of crafters. ๐งถ๐งต๐งถ
A few of our artists are LGBTQ. Their art form is an extension of community. ๐๐๐ Many are cancer survivors celebrating second chances with a sense of purpose. ๐
Everyone has a story. This collection of kinfolk
will be sharing theirs though art, color, design, fashion, flowers, food, fabric, sugar, salt, and heart. Sip & Stroll is a unique event that brings people together through creativity and cocktails.๐ทWe will even have sangria.
Stop by The Middleborough Town Hall
from 3pm-6pm in the mall. Admission is free. Making an artist feel valued is priceless.๐
With Love,
Lorna J. Brunelle
