Keith spotted the new queen and caught her. Then we mark her with the corresponding color of her birth year for easier spotting.

Next we place the queen in a special cage and put her back with her bees. She will be released in a day or so.

In hope, by doing this, the bees will like their new "home" and decide to stay

Swarming is a natural process for honey bees. Despite the Beekeeper's best efforts to provide a suitable environment, the bees will leave when they deem it necessary.

Keith spotted the swarm less than 20 feet from our bee hut.

The image below shows a swarm temporarily settling before moving on to a predetermined location.

So what do you do?!

Catch them, of course!

We have been blessed with plenty of rain this spring. Pray for Florida agriculture https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Bbq22DMQX/

This is devastating for Florida farmers. At this level of drought, crops are failing or not coming up at all. The Hay crop is several cuttings behind. There is not grass in the pastures for the cattle. Wells are going dry. Farmers do not need this on top of high fuel and fertilizer prices. This will break many of them.

Pray for Florida farmers.
