Swarm # 17! Again they did not make it inside the box, so we had to go very late to get them, we tried to scoop and put into a hive, but they where wrapped around the trap and into the fork of the tree, so we had to use the bee vacumme. Came home with bees in the trap, a hive and a vaccume and left at 12:55am! Its a 45 minute drive, but the bees here are amazingly strong, healthy and prolific. I love having their genetics in my bee yards, bonus.... they are also nice bees!!
Put them all close and tarped them for the night or should I say morning and got up at 8 and went and combined them all into the hive.
Was the queen in the hive, the trap, the vaccume??? Is there a queen at all?? We will be adding
A frame of eggs from a hive that came from the same location last year and see if they start making queen cells, if not, she's in there.
Update!!!! Her royal highness is in the hive!!!
