Look at how much the bees have done for me! You can’t have a garden without bugs, they provide crucial pollination, pest control and enhance the soil! Honeybees are my personal favorite not just cause they’re adorable but also because they make my veggies incredible and increase yields! I’m getting a basket a day at this point and about 20 lbs of tomatoes a week 🤩😍🐝

My Saturday! This was my first extraction, learned a lot and always excited to learn more.
Overcame my fear of heights climbing a 20 ft ladder while balancing a box of bees on my shoulder 🥴 Didn’t find the queen and there was a lot of dead bees, but saved enough to help boost my colony for the coming winter! Thanks to Nicole Abbarno Stacey for reaching out!!! 🐝🐝🐝

First time doing this 💀looks like my old queen died while I was on vacation. I heard piping (queen screaming) and knew something was up - that’s when I discovered the bees created queen cells that are peanut shaped where they are raising new queens! The queens “pipe” to tell each other they’re going to k!ll each other basically and then it’s a fight to the de@th once they hatch. The first one to hatch will k!ll the others in their cells. I left three - let the best queen win!

Check out Hope hive with me 🐝 A little progress bee-ing made on the second brood box that was added last week

Today I pulled my in hive feeder and gave the girls a sprinkle of sugar water. Everything is blooming now in zone 6B so shouldn’t need to feed them anymore 🤞🏼💐.
Did you know a strong, healthy beehive can consume and store a gallon of sugar water in as little as 1 to 3 days!

Look at all the different pollen types the bees are bringing in today! 🧡🍑🐱🍊🎃🌹💥 affectionately known as pollen pants 👖 can you spot the one guard bee on duty? She’s the one that doesn’t fly in or out and protects the hive from robbers!

A bee-utiful spring day at Fox Hollow Apiary! This is our first hive at our new home and is named the Hope Hive. This queen hatched last fall and was overwintered in a 5-frame nuc we picked up two weeks ago. She is settling in wonderfully and these bees have already filled out a 10-frame brood box. Today they got another box added 🤍
