A group of young male fledgling Bluejays are helter shelter on the tree tops and electric lines out the window of our rented second floor apartment in Hammondsport. A lovely stone barn with green twelve pane windows is across the street. Wish I brought my sketching pad and pencils. I will add this to my journal when I get home.

The barn swallows arrived about 10 days ago. They announce the arrival of spring and are thought to bring good luck where they build their nests. We have one little mom downstairs that watches me as I go about my mornings chores and keeps me company. Good company indeed!

Our beautiful, ten acre farm has been in our family since 1999. Originally a hobby farm and private residence, the bakery first opened its doors in December of 2013. Since then, our business has continued to grow and evolve every year. The bakery continues to offer a wide variety of bread and pastries, all made from scratch with no preservatives, and using the best recipes and ingredients we can source. We also raise free range chickens for eggs, and are now beginning to grow and sell a variety of organically grown, heirloom vegetables. Our method of farming is one of simplicity, sustainability, and symbiosis, where all aspects work together with nature for the betterment of all. We strive to continue building our connection with the land, our history, and our community in all that we do.

We are reopening this weekend! A new year has begun and the shop will be stocked with breads, pastries and delicious meals to go. We have so many plans for 2023. All is quiet now but come tomorrow the bakery kitchen will be filled with the aroma of fresh baked bread. " Christmas is Coming the Goose is Getting Fat" Our American Buff Geese have been fat for a while and wish you all a Very Merry Christmas! Come visit the shop this Friday 10 to 2 and Christmas Eve 9 to 12 and say hello. Pete is the big one in the middle. Our foundation Goose. He got his beak nipped off by a snapping turtle as a youngster but that doesn't slow him down. Pete and his mate for life Tilly along with this years youngsters fill the farm with boisterous honking and yes we will be having a Christmas Goose on the table. Farm life is a life of wonderful care for our animals and harvest.
Dinner tonight is turkey soup. Sounds boring? No way. I used my turkey carcass from Thanksgiving and made a rich bone broth. It has been in the freezer for a few weeks and I thawed it out tonight for Friday Stay Home For Dinner Day. Sautéed carrot, onion and celery. Rich bone broth added next and simmered. Diced potatoes of course. Skin on. Succulent turkey goes in next along with a load of sage, thyme, parsley and salt and pepper. I think tonight I will thicken the soup and serve with egg noodles. We can make a lot with a little. Cheers to Turkey Soup!
