***Announcement***
As life is always changing, so are things at Southwind Farms. We want to announce that, as of January 1, 2027, me, Christie Janas and my husband Matthew Janas will officially be taking over the horse side of Southwind Farms.
Some history of our business – it all started with one young boy named Brian Janas. He would sneak out and go on pony rides (instead of napping like he was supposed to). He raised Quarter horses, and eventually raised a son as well. A boy named Matthew Janas, who, not surprisingly, also took an interest in horses (like father, like son!). Matthew worked on a feeding program along with the overall health of the horses. He has helped grow different sides of the family farm throughout the years.
Fast forward to now-Matthew and I have children of our own who each desire to be a part of our family farm. We want Southwind Farms to continue moving forward to the next generation, all the way down to our youngest- a boy named Franklin. At just 4 years old, he already knows “the Janas way” and has the Janas grit and work ethic.
What does all of this mean going forward?
Although Brian will still be around to answer questions and give advice, you will begin to see Matthew around more. Instead of being in the fields, Matthew will be facilitating visits and showing you our horses and grounds. Our children will now be assisting with the “hands-on” aspects of our farm. I, Christie will continue my role in advertising, marketing, and customer service. And as a farmer’s wife- feeding all the bellies!
I am still working on creating a farm website and really appreciate all of the pictures you have sent and the reviews/feedback you share.
In regards to our horses- we always want to do what is best for our customers. So we are excited to announce that this past Labor Day weekend, with the help of a family friend, Mathew went out to South Dakota to pick up a new stallion along with 4 replacement mares.  We will share their bloodlines later, but here are some pictures as a sneak peek!
Starting with these 5 and some others we have kept the last few years, in 2030 there will be more options regarding breeding with the foals who are born. Pepper will still breed mares, but we will have an additional stallion at that point to breed. That means more blue roan foals with the same great temperaments our foals are known for. 
We are grateful for everyone we have met along the way as Brian established our business and paved the way for a lasting legacy. We know this lifestyle is a rare one, and we don’t take any of it for granted. You make it all possible! Thank you for allowing us to continue doing what we love.
