With this cooler weather the orders are picking up. Customers are wanting to get their barns filled up before winter sets in. This morning we loaded some very nice 2nd cutting alfalfa/grass mix headed for Virginia. 🐎🐎🇺🇸

Here is a great video Tractor Chasers put together of us baling the last of our first cutting back in July. When the weather and equipment cooperate, we can put a lot of hay in the barn pretty quick. This is all family running the tractors…3 generations.

It’s not every day we get to make hay this nice here in NY. It’s been a struggle lately trying to get hay dry but yesterday and today we were able to get some super fancy second cutting alfalfa made. Finished filling the third barn, now onto the next one. 🐎🇺🇸🇺🇸

Spent the last few days getting the alfalfa timothy planted. A good feeling getting this job done as it requires lots of rock picking and it’s everyone’s least favorite job haha but a very important one none the less. The tiny blue seeds are the alfalfa and the brown ones are timothy. 🐎🇺🇸

Something we try to do after each cutting is spread fertilizer back on the fields right after baling to replace the nutrients that we remove from the soil. This maximizes yields and quality of the hay for our customers. With the forecast of rain coming, this should be good timing to put it right to work. 🐎

Another nice window of great weather to make an additional 55 acres of some super nice 2nd cutting alfalfa and alfalfa grass mix. This alfalfa has some awesome leaf retention, making for some great animal feed. 🐎🐎

What a great week on the farm. Finished our first cut last Sunday. Then jumped into wheat harvest. Also started making some really nice 2nd cutting alfalfa/grass. We couldn’t bale hay Wednesday because the wildfire smoke was to thick and the hay wouldn’t dry. But luckily it cleared just enough yesterday to get it baled. Finished baling the straw today, now hoping for some rain tomorrow as the corn and beans could really use a drink.

Sent out another load of some beautiful first cut orchard grass today. This one headed to Virginia. We even had Milo to help supervise for quality control. 🐎🐎🇺🇸🇺🇸

We took a chance in this small weather window to make some beautiful timothy with a little alfalfa. The finish line is in sight with the first cutting but Mother Nature isn’t cooperating very well. And the forecast doesn’t look very good for making hay. Happy Father’s Day!!
