🎄✨ Merry Christmas from The Unseen Homestead ✨🎄

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas from my little corner of the world — shared with muddy boots, full hearts, and a few wagging tails. ❤️

This season I’m especially grateful for Saxon, the ever-watchful supervisor of the house who keeps everyone in line, and Delta, a black Lab whose extreme loyalty makes it very clear that as her human, I am the center of her world — no questions asked. And this Christmas feels extra special with 8-week-old Rivit, a black Labrador puppy in training for OccuPaws Guide Dog Association, reminding me daily just how much hope, potential, and goodness can come in a tiny, wiggly package.

Whether your holiday is bustling or calm, spent with many or just a few, I hope it’s filled with warmth, comfort, and moments that feel like home.

From my homestead — humans, horses, dogs, cats, and all — to yours, Merry Christmas. 🎄🐾✨

There are few things in life more humbling than breaking in a brand-new pair of field boots.
They look amazing.
They smell incredible.
They absolutely do not care about your ankles or calves. 😅

Today was day one of the “wear them, ride in them, hope for the best” phase — equal parts excitement and regret. But there’s something special about starting the process: stiff leather, first scuffs, and the promise that one day they’ll feel like a second skin.

A few rides, a few blisters, and a lot of patience later… we’ll be friends.
For now, we’re just learning to coexist. 🐴✨

The garden is officially on the shelves for the winter! 🌾

It’s been a busy stretch getting everything put away, but there’s nothing better than seeing all those jars lined up, ready to enjoy through the cold months ahead. This week I canned up some pumpkin purée and cranberry juice, and sent off leeks, onions, and jalapeños to be freeze-dried — along with potatoes, carrots, corn, green beans, and peas!

It’s such a good feeling knowing the harvest is tucked away and the kitchen shelves are full. The smell of fall and a little bit of accomplishment all rolled into one. 💛
