We closed on our new farm a few weeks ago.

We're moving growing zones y'all! 7A.

I can't wait to map out our growing space, plant fruit trees, and forage around the property. We have so much exploring to do and so much to learn!

It's that time of the year again. Swarm season!

Swarming is the natural reproduction process of honeybee hives. It happens in the spring when hives experience growth.

We have been contacted several times already this spring to remove swarms. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to remove them at this time.

Here's what you can do:

Contact The Beekeepers of Indiana. They have a swarm removal list with beekeepers and beekeepers' phone numbers all over the state of Indiana.

DO NOT SPRAY THEM. Honeybees are absolutely essential for pollination and, ultimately, human survival.

Let them be. Most swarms will only stay in that spot for 24 hours or less. They are actively searching for a safe new home and will move on from that area.

They WILL NOT harm you if they don't feel threatened. Just let them peacefully find a new place to go.

Save the bees 🐝

With our move, we had to find a temporary home and significantly downsize our flock of chickens.

This may have been the most difficult part for me. I love my chickens 💔

A dozen of my most loved girls and Cluck Norris are living their best lives on my parents farm. For now!

Our honeybees have successfully been relocated to my parents farm- the one I grew up on!

We had 75% survival rate over winter. Those hives are happy and healthy just a county over.

To our friends, family, and loyal customers, we're sorry we've been so quiet. We have been working on some big things!

For a few years now, we have felt called to do something different. Something bigger. We have spent a lot of time meditating and praying about it.

We have sold our farm.

It's exciting, nerve racking, and very bittersweet.

We don't know exactly where we are being led, but we will be re building our farm from the ground up.

We hope you'll stick around! We are planning to share the experience and progress along the way. Thanks for being here 💙

Look who was out and about today!

Honeybees cluster to keep warm for the winter. They do not leave the hive unless it's above ~50°. When they leave, these are called cleansing flights, where the bees exit to deficate, stretch their legs, and forage for what they can.

We had activity with 75% of our hives today, which is a really good sign considering how harsh this winter has been.

Spring is coming!

Thoroughly enjoying the 80° greenhouse on this sunny day!

We started our first round of seeds a little later than usual this year because of the weather, but I'm confident these shelves will be full in no time.

Recently I had a conversation with a cousin about our grandma's quilts. She made one for each member of the family before she passed.

Selfishly, I had kept her quilts tucked away in a trunk in order to preserve them from wear and tear. My cousin said to me "Meme didn't make those quilts to sit in the chest. She made them for us to use."

I couldn't get her quilt out fast enough after that conversation. It got me thinking about a quilt top I was gifted by my mom. Her best friends mom made it probably forty years ago.

It also deserved a new life. I've repourposed that old vintage quilt top into brand new oven mitts!

Not only are they each uniquely beautiful, you can tell how much love and patience went into each and every stitch.

Winter is hard for me.

I thrive on fresh air, sunshine, and bare feet. I don't like feeling contained indoors all season long.

Winter is a season for rest and trying new things. This is when new recipes are tested, new skills are learned, and old ones are perfected.

This winter, I've decided to try my hand at quilting. My goal is to offer some vintage, re-purposed, practical items at the stand this year!

Let me know what you'd like to see! I hope you are well wherever you are 🫶

Today we have a full basket of eggs for the first time in months!

It's amazing what a few extra minutes of daylight can do.
