Freshly tilled fields. Beautiful sunshine. Endless opportunities for productivity.

The cats have chosen none of those things and are committed instead to lying around like tiny furry landowners inspecting their property.

Honestly, they might be onto something.

Today we’re celebrating all the moms out there — human and animal alike — and hoping your day includes good food, sunshine, and at least one uninterrupted cup of coffee. 🌷🐄🐐🐓

The meat chickens and young turkeys officially graduated to outdoor living last week ☀️🐓🦃

They’re settling into their mobile pen, which we move regularly to give them fresh grass, new bugs to snack on, and plenty of sunshine. It keeps things clean, keeps them active, and lets them do what birds are meant to do—scratch, peck, and explore.

Raising poultry this way takes a little more time and effort, but it’s worth it. On a small farm, humane growth practices matter. Healthy birds, fresh air, and room to move make all the difference—not just for them, but for the quality of food they provide.

Good days, green grass, and growing birds.

Last spring’s calves just got their official promotion: big barnyard status 🐄

After months of growing (and probably plotting), they’ve joined the full herd and wasted no time diving into the good hay like they’ve been doing it their whole lives. Turns out, fitting in isn’t so hard when snacks are involved.

Big cows, big appetites, and a whole lot of happy chewing.

If Be**er fits, Be**er sits.

We plant flowers, Be**er plants himself. It’s all about perspective.

At this point we’re just waiting to see if he blooms or starts demanding full sun and extra snacks.

Tiny snoozes now… big gobbles later 💤🦃

At this stage, these little poults spend a lot of their time resting—it’s how they grow and feather in so quickly. Warmth, quiet, and a safe space to nap are just as important as food and water in these early weeks. Soon enough, they’ll be fully feathered, out exploring, and finding their voices.

Those mid-afternoon naps hit different when you’re growing this fast. 🐥
Our new Cornish Rock meat chicks (and a few curious little turkeys) are settling in, soaking up the warmth and working on those brand-new feathers.

For now though it’s naps, snacks, and cozy indoor living… but it won’t be long before they’re out exploring the pasture.

Flashback to last weekend when chilly temps were still in the air and this Canadian goose was out here testing the pond (and our nerves) before heading to wherever it is geese go with that kind of confidence.

You’d never guess we had ice on the pond last weekend given the flip-flops and shorts weather we had yesterday.

Honey said “pucker up.” 💋

Our new mini Highland, Honey, decided Beau the pygmy goat needed a Valentine’s Day smooch — whether he was ready or not.

No candlelight. No violins. Just a trailer, a “Be Mine” sign, and two farm babies being ridiculously cute.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the sweetest little duo on the farm 💕
