We will be closed tomorrow, June 18, because the Water Department is doing work on the water main. Unfortunately, we cannot operate without water. We will be open today (Wednesday) until 6:00 pm and on Friday until 6:00 pm.

We are closed today (Tuesday) for kitchen maintenance. We will be open Wednesday at 11:00 am.

We're open today until 6:00. Come in and check out our expanded pasty menu. We have 6 varieties available hot today - 4 familiar kinds: Beef, Chicken, Smoked Brisket, Cudighi; and our 2 new flavors: Pastrami Reuben and Corned Beef Hash. We don't have any hot Veggies but if you want one, just call us and we can heat it up. All 7 varieties are available frozen.

In addition, today's soup is Beef Vegetable Barley and Black Bean with Ham.

As a reminder, we are a pasty shop, and we no longer serve any of our sandwiches.

As many of you may know, Shier's Pasties & More is evolving into Midland Pasty Company. Our intention was to work the rest of this week and then be closed for a few weeks to make some changes. However, we have run out of much of the meat we had allocated for the week so we won't opening this week, after all.

We're thankful for the years we've had as a sandwich shop and grateful for the support from the community. However, the current state of affairs in the country has plunged us all into financial uncertainty and we are no different. The change into a full-time pasty shop is the best way forward for us, and we are excited and hopeful for our future. We will keep you informed as we move into this new adventure. We hope to see you in May, when we start our new era as Midland Pasty Company.

We're making some changes!

Shier’s Pasties & More in Midland will close April 3 for a rebrand and reopen in May as Midland Pasty Company, focusing on expanded pasty offerings.

Pasties have been a cherished part of Michigan's history since the 1800s, when they were brought to the copper mines of the Upper Peninsula by Cornish miners, subsequently spreading throughout Michigan's lumber camps, and ultimately becoming a beloved Michigan tradition. We are proud to provide our community with this connection to Michigan's rich history, and we are extremely excited to announce that a change is in the works. For over 11 years, Shier's has been a busy lunch spot, serving a wide variety of scratch-made sandwiches, soups, salads, sides, and, of course, hot pasties. Now, to better serve our community and focus on the product we are most passionate about, Shier's Pasties & More is officially becoming the Midland Pasty Company.

To make this transition possible and refresh our space for our new focus, we will be temporarily closing our doors, starting April 3, 2026. When we reopen on May 4, 2026, it will be as a pasty shop. We are retiring our sandwich menu to make room for an expanded menu of freshly baked pasties, served hot and ready to enjoy. We will still be serving our hearty, scratch-made soups daily, and we will be offering quarts of soup, as well as grab-and-go containers of coleslaw, potato salad, and German potato salad, and, of course, frozen pasties.

Note on Gift Cards: All Shier's Pasties & More gift cards will be honored at Midland Pasty Company. We value your loyalty and can't wait to see you in our new space!

We will be closed Friday (February 6), and Wednesday (February 11). We apologize for any inconvenience. We know it's irritating when you get here and we're closed. Unfortunately, we (George and Kristen) are both getting old-ish and we have issues, so sometimes we will be closed on a random day, given that we are 2/3 of the staff at Shier's Pasties.

We are grateful to all of our customers for their support and enthusiasm for our ever-changing menu! We are in our 12th year of business and it wouldn't have been possible without the continued support of our loyal customers, friends, and family. Thank you!
