That stinking Pancake has no electric shock fear. Part of the reason he got put in a new pen with Buckle baby and the farms’ goats to do some brush work- cattle panel fencing is what we’re using down there.
Most of Saturday was spent getting Peppermint and Patty ready for their move down to the big barn. I cannot wait to show you where the milking parlor will be!
One of our goals to no longer need the big box grocery store will be accomplished as the goats kid here over the next few months 🤞. About the time they dry up, Patty will come into milk.
The biggest thing I’ve learned with homesteading for long term is the pace is slow and the road will change. You have to be willing to adapt and adjust or you won’t make it long term.
We’ve almost quit a handful of times but I remember what Fred (neighbor- farmer Fred) said to me “oh it’s just the fourth year slump. We’ve seen many people stop at this point.” He was giving us the permission to stop I feel like but also encouraging us that THIS feeling was normal. We don’t suck at homesteading. We’re first generation, learning it all. Man I am I so happy for their constant support and community.
Rounding year 8!
