September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. 💛🎗️
A lot of you may not know this about me, but I have had a baby with cancer. My Kameron was diagnosed at only 18 months old with a rare childhood cancer called pulmonary blastoma. He underwent several major surgeries and weekly chemotherapy, things no baby should ever have to endure. Before cancer entered our lives, I knew what worry felt like because I was a mama. But I didn’t truly understand fear. Then, all those years ago, I was just a mama living my life and in an instant, my entire world shattered. Today, Kameron is 17 years old. While that experience may seem like forever ago, there are still days when it feels like it happened yesterday. I cannot put into words what it feels like as a mother to watch your baby go through something like that, but I will forever be grateful for the research, treatments, doctors, nurses, funding, and people who helped save his life. Im sharing our story because childhood cancer can happen to any family. None of us ever believes it will be our child until suddenly, it is.
So, when you see someone sharing a GoFundMe for a family facing childhood cancer, please consider helping. When you see a fundraiser supporting childhood cancer research, please donate if you caneven a few dollars matters. Organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, CURE Childhood Cancer, and the Children’s Oncology Group are all helping fund research and give children like Kameron the chance to grow up. Please donate, share, pray, and help bring awareness. Behind every gold ribbon is a precious child and a family whose life changed in an instant. 💛🎗️ Literally Everyone
