It's the end of an era. Our small kunekune herd is on their way to a new home, and all our piglets will be sold by the end of the month. We will officially be out of pigs. It's bittersweet, but we look forward to spending less time on farm chores and more time with family.

Time to hatch some eggs! 🐣

We started up the incubator Monday and set a nice haul of beautiful eggs. Some from our hens and some we purchased from a few other farms.

Little did we know, we had a hen hidden away sitting on 13 eggs. Amazingly, she successfully hatched all 13 of them! We setup the brooder and moved the chicks to a safe area in the barn. We always welcome unexpected hatches like this one!

In three weeks, we hope to be overrun with even more chicks! Hatching eggs is one of our (and by our I mean me, Laura) favorite things to do. While most of these chicks will stay here, we may make some available at a later time.

Well, we never sold our herd of kunekunes, and now we have even more. Mawmaw (aka Nellie) had babies! She had 11 unassisted and is always a fantastic mom.

We have settled into our new normal on the farm, and we are loving the simplicity of our rabbits.

We added Silver Fox rabbits to our barn and another beautiful TAMUK buck to help with requests for unrelated breeders. This week, we plan to add two more Silver Fox does (a blue and a chocolate).

By the end of the week, nest boxes will be added to two cages to prepare for our next round of babies. We are excited to see how our black Silver Fox doe handles her first kindling.
